After a super dry winter, I'm sure my nails are not the only ones that look atrocious. So in the name of SPRINGTIME, I gathered these useful tips because I don't know about you, but I'm tired of hangnails!
Did you know that your nails are composed of hardened layers of keratin? It's a protein that is also found in hair and skin.
Hangnails are signs that your cuticles are DRY and aren't preventing moisture loss as your nails grow. White spots or vertical grooves usually indicate that you've banged your fingernail with enough force to injure. Easy-to-bend tips are a result of prolonged exposure from washing dishes or biting your nails. You hear that nail biters?!
Some solutions:

Always wear rubber gloves when you do dishes. Resist the urge to nibble on your nails, and use a NON ACETONE polish remover.
Moisturize often, apply cream after EVERY handwashing and smooth on a cuticle oil at least once a day.
A vitamin with BIOTIN will also help. You want the supplement to have at least 2.5 milligrams in it. BIOTIN is a B vitamin that can enhance growth and help harden nails.

So now the fun part: my favorite products that I've used for awhile now.
Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I carry this in my bag, and I love it! It's at most drugstores and it costs around 5 dollars. It lives up to it's slogan,'Get 10 perfect fingers and 10 perfect toes!" Lemon Oil is the featured ingredient and it smells
wonderful. Just massage it into cuticles as needed throughout the day.
Aveda Beautifying Composition. This has an amazing aroma of lavender and rosemary.
Very relaxing. It's great for using on dry skin, I especially like putting it on my feet before bed and sleeping with socks on.Aveda Cuticle Control. Tiny tube, big results. Problem cuticles look healthy and well-groomed after using this cuticle-minimizing gel. Mineral-based ingredients help break down protein bonds. Plant-based humectants and conditioning agents soften cuticles, so they are easy to push back. *DO NOT cut cuticles, this is your nails ONLY protection against infection.
I hope this helps you on your way to soft hands, feet and strong nails! HAPPY SPRING!!! Show those toes!
